The Southern Workforce Board is a community based not-for-profit entity operated by a volunteer Board that is business-led by members representing the community and who have an interest in workforce and economic development issues.

• Identify and provide on-going access to quality services that meet the current and future workforce needs of youth, job-seekers, and employers and businesses;
  
  
• Identify trends and opportunities in the workforce area and local labor markets;
  
  
• Report to the community on outcomes, trends and issues;
  
  
• Maintain and publicizing an inventory of programs and services to the businesses of the workforce area in order to meet their workforce needs;
  
  
• Partner for education and training services to meet the needs of the underemployed, unemployed, and newly emerging workers;
  
  
• Design and facilitate a framework for coordinating public policy impacting workforce development issues in Southern Oklahoma

From the desk of the Chairman 

   Like most not-for-profit organizations, the Southern Workforce Board relies on volunteers to participate on the Board providing advice, guidance and leadership for the work we undertake.  Representing private sector business, economic development, labor, business, trainers, educators, disabled persons, veterans, and other public and private organizations, our Board members have a keen interest in working with the community to identify trends, opportunities and priorities which impact the workforce

 

Having worked for a number of volunteer boards and experienced the reward of sitting on volunteer boards, it never ceases to amaze me how a very diverse group of people can rally together and make great things happen for our communities. In each case, I have also experienced the excitement of introducing new members to a Board; becoming familiar with the skills and knowledge each individual brings to the table; finding the best match for those abilities to enhance the success of the organization and provide a feeling of value to the individual.

 

I thank each and every one of the members of the Southern Workforce Board and encourage their ever-so-needed leadership through our strategic processes in the years to come.

Request for Proposals

The Southern Workforce Board for the Southern Workforce Investment Area of Oklahoma is now requesting proposals for the following:

A WIA Service Provider for Adult and Dislocated Worker and Youth Integrated Services. 

The entity selected as the Service Provider will assist the One Stop Partners in providing integrated workforce services to adults and dislocated workers at Workforce Oklahoma offices in the Southern Oklahoma Workforce Investment Area. The Southern Oklahoma Workforce Investment Area includes Atoka, Bryan, Carter, Chowtaw, Coal, Garvin, Johnston, Love, Marshall, Murray, McCurtain, Pittsburg, Pontotoc, and Pushmataha Counties.

 

Contracts for the service provider will begin July 1, 2013. The contract will initially be for a 15 month period. The deadline for submitting completed proposals is 12:00 Noon,  June 3, 2013.  All information on the services to be provided, technical assistance to proposers, and proposal outlines are in the proposal package.
